Students and researchers from Singapore Polytechnic developed an intelligent outdoor autonomous mobile robot for campus delivery. The robot is capable of navigating to the destination autonomously with collision avoidance. The robot can carry up to 10KG and 30KG of payload based on the robot base SCOUT MINI and SCOUT, respectively.

By combining GPS/RTK navigation with 3D-lidar based collision avoidance, the robot is able to navigate autonomously inside the campus where GPS signal is accessible. The GPS/RTK navigation can achieved up to 1cm accuracy with up to 10HZ updating frequency by talking to the RTK service from Singapore SLA.

Singapore Polytechnic sends their students and researchers to work with Weston Robot engineers to accelerate the pace of the development. The industry-academic alliance is a great tool to help students to bridge the gap between academic and industry. Weston Robot has a trained a dozens of students from local institutes to make them ready to embrace the robotics carrers.

They are able to navigate around on their own, avoiding obstacles, and returning to their source if any unexpected situation arises.

However, Ackerman-drive robot, which mimics the behaviour of a car is superiors in many aspects. Autonomous driving research team in Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, adopts the Ackerman-drive robot from Weston Robot to conduct their advanced research.
