Weston Robot engaged with over 110 MBA students from the Indian Institute of Management Visakhapatnam (IIMV), discussing their expertise in developing and deploying facility management robots. We spent two fun hours introducing robots used in construction and facility management with two group of students (total 70+) from Seoul, South Korea. Many of them were very keen to become future robotics engineers...surprisingly know that they didn't worry too much about ChatGPT as the robot adoption levels in construction and FM were below 5%.

It was our great honor to receive the visit of Singapore Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) and Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies Heng Swee Keat yesterday. I shared with DPM about developing and deploying [affordable] deep-tech robots for road/water/table cleaning, grass cutting, tough site patrolling and inspection. We also shared with DPM about talent training such as advanced robotics developers, dedicated robotics technicians and operators.

The system equips with one lidar-based autonomous navigation AMR base, a 6-DOF collaborative robot arm with a customized-designed holders for two cloth, AI/vision system. The entire motion planning and computer vision runs on NVIDIA Jetson XAVIER. The robot autonomously travels to each corner of the table, detects whether there are some valuable items on the table before making the cleaning procedures.

A group of engineering undergraduates from University of Wollongong, Australia lead by Prof. Li Weihua spent 1 day with engineers from Weston Robot. Dr. Zhang Yanliang from Weston Robot shared with students about how to close the gap between the academic and industry when deploying robots to solve real-time challenges.

AI technology can be used detect those who are not wearing masks, or who are standing too close with others (e.g. not following social distance measuring). Before the official deployment, we can take many pictures (with or without masking) using our cameras on the robot from different locations at Sentosa, and train the AI model to understand the difference between masking and unmasking, as well as estimating social distances.
